Do I need a UV toothbrush sterilizer?

The UV toothbrush sterilizer uses UV light to kill 99.9% of the bacteria and germs on your toothbrush. This is necessary because you have over 1 million bacteria in your mouth and use a toothbrush to remove them. However, you won't get all of the bacteria eliminated from your toothbrush. That is why it is helpful to kill these leftover germs and bacteria with UV light.

We go into detail on the topic in our blog about toothbrush cleaning.

With regular toothbrush replacement, storage and correct use of the toothbrush, it loses most of the germs and bacteria after use. In particular, correct rinsing under running water after use removes a large part of the germs. An airy and dry storage contributes to it further. No particular effect has been scientifically proven at the moment after the use of UV sterilizers. In this respect, it is up to you to decide whether it makes sense for you or not. If you have certain pre-existing conditions or a weak immune system, the additional removal of bacteria on the toothbrush won't do any harm.

The UV light sterilization usually takes 3–6 minutes, depending on the product. To do this, the toothbrush is inserted into the device after use and the toothbrush sterilizer is switched on. All devices switch off automatically after their sterilization time. You should sterilize your toothbrush every time you brush your teeth.
